Medicall Healthcare is a product of Xperia Financial Services (PTY) Ltd, a Licenced Financial Services Provider, registered with the FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority) — FSP 45551.

Our Day-to-Day services are provided by the Medicall Healthcare Network of providers. We have an extensive national network of over 5000 healthcare service providers that include GPs, Dentists, Optometrists and Pharmacies.

In the case of any hospital or emergency room admittance: Pre-Authorisation is required by members.

In the event of an accident members will be allowed 48 hours from admittance in which to contact the Pre-Authorisation Department of Africa and Worldwide Assistance Services Pty Ltd 1997/013679/07 (Africa Assist) who is contracted to perform the function on behalf of Lion of Africa and Xperia.

During the pre-authorisation process, the member is validated and if necessary, an ambulance service is provided. The qualified staff members of Africa Assist will advise the member if he / she qualifies (e.g., waiting periods are over) and will provide estimates of the costs involved.

• a) If the estimated costs are within the benefit value available, the member signs a cession form in which Lion of Africa is requested to pay the service providers directly;
• b) Should the estimated costs exceed the benefit available, the member and/or hospital is advised accordingly. If agreement is reached regarding the shortfall, a payment guarantee is issued to the hospital for the benefit value. Alternatively, the member is informed of other options, which may include state facilities.

Medicall Healthcare have agreements with most Private Hospitals in South Africa. In the case of any hospital or emergency room admittance, Pre-Authorisation is required by members.

• When referred by your GP, you will be supplied with an admission letter to submit to the Pre-Authorisation Department.
